Ep. 258: The Importance of Dedication Rituals
Sunday Feb 18, 2024
Sunday Feb 18, 2024
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 258, “The Importance of Dedication Rituals,” Kim discusses the importance of dedication rituals, both personal and corporate. She challenges listeners to examine their lives and to determine which area of their lives they might need to dedicate or re-dedicate to the Lord today.
Our focal passages for this episode are 1 Kings 8:54-66; 2 Chronicles 7:1-10 with verses 2 Chronicles 7:1-3 as the focal verses:
1 When Solomon finished praying, fire flashed down from heaven and burned up the burnt offerings and sacrifices, and the glorious presence of the Lord filled the Temple. 2 The priests could not enter the Temple of the Lord because the glorious presence of the Lord filled it. 3 When all the people of Israel saw the fire coming down and the glorious presence of the Lord filling the Temple, they fell face down on the ground and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying,
“He is good! His faithful love endures forever!” (2 Chronicles 7:1-3)
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT FEATURE:
In which area of your life might you need to engage in a dedication ritual?
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
22 After that, Aaron raised his hands toward the people and blessed them. Then, after presenting the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering, he stepped down from the altar. 23 Then Moses and Aaron went into the Tabernacle, and when they came back out, they blessed the people again, and the glory of the Lord appeared to the whole community. 24 Fire blazed forth from the Lord’s presence and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When the people saw this, they shouted with joy and fell face down on the ground. (Leviticus 9:22-24)
26 David built an altar there to the Lord and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And when David prayed, the Lord answered him by sending fire from heaven to burn up the offering on the altar. 27 Then the Lord spoke to the angel, who put the sword back into its sheath. 28 When David saw that the Lord had answered his prayer, he offered sacrifices there at Araunah’s threshing floor. 29 At that time the Tabernacle of the Lord and the altar of burnt offering that Moses had made in the wilderness were located at the place of worship in Gibeon. 30 But David was not able to go there to inquire of God, because he was terrified by the drawn sword of the angel of the Lord. (1 Chronicles 21:26-30)

25 “And now, O Lord, God of Israel, carry out the additional promise you made to your servant David, my father. Sunday Feb 04, 2024
Sunday Feb 04, 2024
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 256, “Human Intention vs. God’s Will,” Kim discusses the difference between David’s honorable intentions and the Lord’s will regarding the building of the temple. Each of us has walked in similar places, believing what our mind has created must be from God. Stop today and surrender all your intentions to Him and allow Him to show you His true path.
Our focal passages for this episode are 1 Kings 8:12-21; 2 Chronicles 6:1-11 with verses 1 King 8:17-19 as the focal verses:
17 Then Solomon said, “My father, David, wanted to build this Temple to honor the name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 18 But the Lord told him, ‘You wanted to build the Temple to honor my name. Your intention is good, 19 but you are not the one to do it. One of your own sons will build the Temple to honor me.’
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT FEATURE:

Ep. 255: The Glorious Presence of the Lord
Sunday Jan 28, 2024
Sunday Jan 28, 2024
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 255, “The Glorious Presence of the Lord,” Kim discusses the display of the glory of the Lord as the Ark of the Covenant was brought into the Temple. As Christ-followers, have we ever thought about the fact that the glorious presence of the Lord resides in the temples we call our bodies? How could that perspective change how we live on a daily basis?
Our focal passages for this episode are 1 Kings 8:1-11; 2 Chronicles 5:1-14 with verses 1 Kings 8:10-11 as the focal verse:
10 When the priests came out of the Holy Place, a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord. 11 The priests could not continue their service because of the cloud, for the glorious presence of the Lord filled the Temple of the Lord.
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT FEATURE:
Meditate on 1 Kings 8:10-11. What would it have been like to have experienced the Lord’s presence in that way?

Ep. 254: Are You in Full-Time Christian Ministry?
Sunday Jan 21, 2024
Sunday Jan 21, 2024
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 254, “Are You in Full-Time Christian Ministry?” Kim discusses the misperception that is often prevalent regarding the idea of full-time Christian ministry. Sadly, many Christians believe that those who are paid staff in a church or ministry are considered in full-time Christian ministry. Yet, in all we do, we are to be Christ’s hands and feet.
Our focal passages for this episode are 1 Kings 7:13-51 with verse 14 as the focal verse:
14 He was half Israelite, since his mother was a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father had been a craftsman in bronze from Tyre. Huram was extremely skillful and talented in any work in bronze, and he came to do all the metal work for King Solomon.
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT FEATURE:
What is one perspective shift you will make this week to help you better see all you do as Christian ministry?
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24)

Ep. 252: In a World of Unlikely Friendships
Sunday Jan 07, 2024
Sunday Jan 07, 2024
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 252, “In a World of Unlikely Friendships,” Kim discusses the power of Godly influence within relationships. Although we do not know for sure what Hiram the King of Tyre thought about the God of Israel before he met David, if he was like others in his country, it would not have been one of fondness. Yet, in verse 11 of 2 Chronicles, we see a glimpse of honor and adoration for the Lord. Might David’s heart for God have influenced Hiram through their friendship?
Our focal passages for this episode are 1 Kings 5:1-12 and 2 Chronicles 2:1-16 with verses 1 Kings 5:1 and 2 Chronicles 2:11 as the focal verses:
1 King Hiram of Tyre had always been a loyal friend of David. When Hiram learned that David’s son Solomon was the new king of Israel, he sent ambassadors to congratulate him.
11 King Hiram sent this letter of reply to Solomon:
“It is because the Lord loves his people that he has made you their king! 12 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son, gifted with skill and understanding, who will build a Temple for the Lord and a royal palace for himself.

Ep. 251: What Would Remain Undone or Incomplete?
Sunday Dec 31, 2023
Sunday Dec 31, 2023
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 251, “What Would Remain Undone or Incomplete?” Kim discusses the importance of leaving a legacy of faith for the next generation. King David wanted so much to build the temple for his God, but he was permitted to do so. Instead, he did everything within his power to make the necessary preparations for Solomon to have all he would need to get started on the task. What would happen if we made those same preparations, but especially in the area of spiritual building blocks?
Our focal passage for this episode is 1 Chronicles 22 and 1 Kings 5 with verses 1 Kings 5:3 and 1 Chronicles 22:5 as the focal verses:
3 “You know that my father, David, was not able to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord his God because of the many wars waged against him by surrounding nations. He could not build until the Lord gave him victory over all his enemies.
5 David said, “My son Solomon is still young and inexperienced. And since the Temple to be built for the Lord must be a magnificent structure, famous and glorious throughout the world, I will begin making preparations for it now.” So David collected vast amounts of building materials before his death.
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT FEATURE:
If you were to die today, what would remain undone or incomplete? Begin completing those tasks today.

Our focal passage for this episode is 1 Kings 4:1-19 with verses 4 and 11 as the focal verses:

Additional Resources and Scriptures:
26 Then the king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your home in Anathoth. May God honor this personalized scripture prayer in the life of each listener:
Dear Lord,
I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower each listener with inner strength through Your Spirit. May You make Your home in her(/his) heart as she trusts in You. May her roots grow down into Your love and keep her strong. And may she have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. May she experience Your love, though it is too great to understand fully. Then may she be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Now all glory to You, who is able, through Your mighty power at work within her, to accomplish infinitely more than she might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:16-20 Personalized Prayer)
