In Podcast Episode 336, “When Allies Become Enemies,” Kim discusses the three types of enemies Joash faced in our scripture passage and the lessons we can learn from his choices. As you listen to the podcast, Kim will challenge you to examine your life and identify the enemies you face and how they have arisen. So often we mistake well-meaning people who are trying to hold us accountable as enemies, just as Joash did with Zechariah. May that not be true for you.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 24:23-27, with 24 as the focal verse:
24 Although the Arameans attacked with only a small army, the Lord helped them conquer the much larger army of Judah. The people of Judah had abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, so judgment was carried out against Joash.

In Podcast Episode 334, “Looking at Life through a Different Lens,” Kim discusses the importance of looking at our daily lives and the people in them through God’s eyes. We can either give a weather report of our day-to-day, seeing life through only our earthly eyes, or we can truly see what the Lord is doing in, through, and around us on the daily. As we look at today’s passages, may we be challenged to spend each day of our lives looking through His eyes.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 12:9-16 and 2 Chronicles 24:8-16, with 10, 15-16 as the focal verses:
10 This pleased all the leaders and the people, and they gladly brought their money and filled the chest with it.
15 Jehoiada lived to a very old age, finally dying at 130. 16 He was buried among the kings in the City of David, because he had done so much good in Israel for God and his Temple.

In Podcast Episode 333, “Accountability Can Come from Unexpected People,” Kim discusses the importance of accepting Godly accountability and providing Godly accountability. Sometimes our accountability may come from the younger generation or those we have mentored.

6 But by the twenty-third year of Joash’s reign, the priests still had not repaired the Temple. 7 So King Joash called for Jehoiada and the other priests and asked them, “Why haven’t you repaired the Temple? Jehoiada not only helped to physically protect the baby Joash until he took the throne of Judah, but he was also part of his spiritual protection and provision. In Podcast Episode 331, “Which Child Will You Protect?” Kim discusses the responsibility we have to be protectors of the next generation. In today’s story, we see at least three people who were in on a dangerous child protection project. Each of them risked their life to hide a baby boy from his out-of-control, power-hungry grandmother, Athaliah.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 11:1-16, with 2-3 as the focal verse:
2 But Ahaziah’s sister Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Ahaziah’s infant son, Joash, and stole him away from among the rest of the king’s children, who were about to be killed. She put Joash and his nurse in a bedroom, and they hid him from Athaliah, so the child was not murdered. 3 Joash remained hidden in the Temple of the Lord for six years while Athaliah ruled over the land.

In Podcast Episode 330, “Are You Guilty of Cafeteria-Style Obedience?” Kim discusses the temptation we all face to pick and choose what we want to obey. Today’s story highlights the character King Jehu of Israel, who did an outstanding job (seemingly going a bit overboard) with wiping out the evil lineage of King Ahab, but did a pitiful job serving the Lord in other areas. May our testimony not be the same, and may we be known as one who loves the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

In Podcast Episode 329, “The Lord Is Never ’Slow’ in Keeping His Promises,” Kim discusses the challenge of waiting on the Lord to fulfill His promises. In today’s story, we see the long-awaited fulfillment of the Lord’s promise to destroy Queen Jezebel for her lifetime of evil deeds.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 9:1-37, with 36-37 as the focal verses:
36 When they returned and told Jehu, he stated, “This fulfills the message from the Lord, which he spoke through his servant Elijah from Tishbe: ‘At the plot of land in Jezreel, dogs will eat Jezebel’s body. 37 Her remains will be scattered like dung on the plot of land in Jezreel, so that no one will be able to recognize her.’”

In Podcast Episode 328, “She Encouraged Him in Doing Wrong,” Kim discusses the evil influences on King Ahaziah of Judah. Not only did his own mother encourage him in doing wrong, but he was advised in similar directions by other relatives. All of us have had at least one person who either encouraged us in doing wrong or did something to us that changed the trajectory of our lives. Sadly, some of us may have also been that person in the lives of others. May God use today’s lesson to bring to the light what has been hiding in darkness, and bring His healing to hurting hearts.
