Ep. 109: Oh, How Challenging It Is to Wait on the Lord!
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
In Podcast Episode 109, “Oh, How Challenging It Is to Wait on the Lord!,” Kim discusses the temptation we all experience to run ahead of God and His plans, instead of waiting on God’s perfect timing.
The primary scripture text for this episode is 1 Samuel 13:1-23, with the key verses 8-9:
8 Saul waited there seven days for Samuel, as Samuel had instructed him earlier, but Samuel still didn’t come. Saul realized that his troops were rapidly slipping away. 9 So he demanded, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings!” And Saul sacrificed the burnt offering himself.
Weekly Assignment Feature:
Identify one area in your life in which you need to have more patience in waiting on the Lord. Commit to trust Him and wait on Him to show you the next step to take.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:
8 But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. (2 Peter 3:8-10)

Ep. 106: Are Your Hands Clean?
Sunday Mar 21, 2021
Sunday Mar 21, 2021
In Podcast Episode 106, “Are Your Hands Clean?,” Kim discusses the importance of having clean hands and a pure heart before God. As the prophet Samuel was ready to say goodbye to the Israelite nation to whom he had ministered since his youth, he had some matters he wanted to address. He began his farewell address by making sure his conscience was clear before them and, most importantly, before God. Might today be a good day for each of us to see if our hands are clean and our hearts are pure before God? And, if not, might we choose to turn to God for cleansing?
The primary scripture text for this episode is 1 Samuel 12:1-5, with the key verse 5:
1 Then Samuel addressed all Israel: “I have done as you asked and given you a king. 2 Your king is now your leader. I stand here before you—an old, gray-haired man—and my sons serve you. I have served as your leader from the time I was a boy to this very day. 3 Now testify against me in the presence of the Lord and before his anointed one. Whose ox or donkey have I stolen? Have I ever cheated any of you? Have I ever oppressed you? Have I ever taken a bribe and perverted justice? Tell me and I will make right whatever I have done wrong.”
4 “No,” they replied, “you have never cheated or oppressed us, and you have never taken even a single bribe.”
5 “The Lord and his anointed one are my witnesses today,” Samuel declared, “that my hands are clean.”
“Yes, he is a witness,” they replied.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.
2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.
3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior.
6 Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob. (Psalm 24:1-6)
Matthew 27:11-2624 Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!” (Matthew 27:24)

6 Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he became very angry. 7 He took two oxen and cut them into pieces and sent the messengers to carry them throughout Israel with this message: “This is what will happen to the oxen of anyone who refuses to follow Saul and Samuel into battle!” And the Lord made the people afraid of Saul’s anger, and all of them came out together as one.

Ep. 104: Where Is Your Hiding Place?
Sunday Mar 07, 2021
Sunday Mar 07, 2021
In Podcast Episode 104, “Where Is Your Hiding Place?,” Kim discusses the unique hiding place used by King Saul when he tried to hide from God and others. How much better would it have been for him and Israel if he had looked for his hiding place IN GOD instead of AWAY FROM GOD.
The primary scripture text for this episode is 1 Samuel 10:1-27, with the key verses 21-23:
21 Then he brought each family of the tribe of Benjamin before the Lord, and the family of the Matrites was chosen. And finally Saul son of Kish was chosen from among them. But when they looked for him, he had disappeared! 22 So they asked the Lord, “Where is he?”
And the Lord replied, “He is hiding among the baggage.” 23 So they found him and brought him out, and he stood head and shoulders above anyone else.

Ep.101: Taking Your Wounded Heart to God
Sunday Feb 14, 2021
Sunday Feb 14, 2021
In Podcast Episode 101, “Taking Your Wounded Heart to God,” Kim discusses the importance of taking our wounded hearts to God. Not only will God provide His perspective for the situation, but He is the Only One who can heal the damage done.
The primary scripture text for this episode is 1 Samuel 8:1-9, with the key verse being 6-7:
6 Samuel was displeased with their request and went to the Lord for guidance. 7 “Do everything they say to you,” the Lord replied, “for they are rejecting me, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:
“O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.” (Psalm 62:8)
16 We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham. 17 Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. 18 Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested. (Hebrews 2:16-18)

Ep. 100: Up to This Point the Lord Has Helped!
Sunday Feb 07, 2021
Sunday Feb 07, 2021
In Podcast Episode 100, “Up to This Point the Lord Has Helped!” Kim discusses the importance of pausing and celebrating God’s faithfulness to this point. Samuel erected a memorial stone and named it Ebenezer, which means “the stone of help.” Where do you need to erect a “stone of help”?
The primary scripture text for this episode is 1 Samuel 7:10-17, with the key verse being 12:
12 Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah. He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the Lord has helped us!”
BIG NEWS: “A Country Girl in a City World—Loving Jesus” podcast has been renamed “Encouraging Others in Loving Jesus.” You will get the same great content, but a new name and a new look. Eventually, there will be a new website that will contain podcast information, Bible study blog posts, and more.

May God honor this personalized scripture prayer in the life of each listener:
Dear Lord,
I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower each listener with inner strength through Your Spirit. May You make Your home in her(/his) heart as she trusts in You. May her roots grow down into Your love and keep her strong. And may she have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. May she experience Your love, though it is too great to understand fully. Then may she be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Now all glory to You, who is able, through Your mighty power at work within her, to accomplish infinitely more than she might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:16-20 Personalized Prayer)
