SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 203, “Do You Have a Judas in Your Circle?” Kim discusses one of the traitors in King David’s inner circle, comparing him to the most infamous traitor of all time, Judas Iscariot. Each of us needs to use a discerning spirit, led by the Holy Spirit, to avoid trusting those with traitors tendencies.
Our focal verses for this week are varied:
12 While Absalom was offering the sacrifices, he sent for Ahithophel, one of David’s counselors who lived in Giloh. Soon many others also joined Absalom, and the conspiracy gained momentum. (2 Samuel 15:12)
Absalom followed Ahithophel’s advice, just as David had done. For every word Ahithophel spoke seemed as wise as though it had come directly from the mouth of God. (2 Samuel 16:23)
When Ahithophel realized that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey, went to his hometown, set his affairs in order, and hanged himself. He died there and was buried in the family tomb. (2 Samuel 17:23)
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT FEATURE:

- 13 Afterward Jesus went up on a mountain and called out the ones he wanted to go with him. And they came to him. 14 Then he appointed twelve of them and called them his apostles. They were to accompany him, and he would send them out to preach, 15 giving them authority to cast out demons. 16 These are the twelve he chose:…19 Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him). (Mark 3:16a-19)
- 4 But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said, 5 “That perfume was worth a year’s wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor.” 6 Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples’ money, he often stole some for himself. (John 12:4-6)
