Ep. 312: The Danger Zone of Mocking God
Sunday Mar 02, 2025
Sunday Mar 02, 2025
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 312, “The Danger Zone of Mocking God,” Kim discusses the challenging passage in 2 Kings 2 in which the prophet Elisha is ridiculed by a large group of young men. Why would the Lord have judged the youths in the manner He did? Always remember the words of the Apostle Paul — “You cannot mock the justice of God.”
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 2:23-25 with 24 as the focal verse:
23 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!” they chanted. “Go away, baldy!” 24 Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them. 25 From there Elisha went to Mount Carmel and finally returned to Samaria.
WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:
How has this scripture passage impacted your sense of awe of God?
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
21 “If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey me, I will inflict disaster on you seven times over for your sins. 22 I will send wild animals that will rob you of your children and destroy your livestock. Your numbers will dwindle, and your roads will be deserted. (Leviticus 26:21-22)
7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. (Galatians 6:7)

Ep. 311: Don't Miss the REAL Miracle!
Sunday Feb 23, 2025
Sunday Feb 23, 2025
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 311, “Don’t Miss the REAL Miracle!” Kim discusses the seemingly simple story of the prophet Elisha and a water purification miracle that was much more than it seemed. This story is a reminder of the importance of understanding context, whether it be in the stories of the Bible or in the stories of our lives. You can miss the REAL miracle if you do not understand the context.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 2:19-22 with 19 as the focal verse:
19 One day the leaders of the town of Jericho visited Elisha. “We have a problem, my lord,” they told him. “This town is located in pleasant surroundings, as you can see. But the water is bad, and the land is unproductive.”
20 Elisha said, “Bring me a new bowl with salt in it.” So they brought it to him. 21 Then he went out to the spring that supplied the town with water and threw the salt into it. And he said, “This is what the Lord says: I have purified this water. It will no longer cause death or infertility.” 22 And the water has remained pure ever since, just as Elisha said.
WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:
What miracle could have been missed in your life if someone had not known the full context?
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
26 At that time Joshua invoked this curse: “May the curse of the Lord fall on anyone who tries to rebuild the town of Jericho. At the cost of his firstborn son, he will lay its foundation. At the cost of his youngest son, he will set up its gates.” (Joshua 6:26)
34 It was during his reign that Hiel, a man from Bethel, rebuilt Jericho. When he laid its foundations, it cost him the life of his oldest son, Abiram. And when he completed it and set up its gates, it cost him the life of his youngest son, Segub. This all happened according to the message from the Lord concerning Jericho spoken by Joshua son of Nun. (1 Kings 16:34)

Ep. 310: Courage to Lay Hold of Your Calling
Sunday Feb 16, 2025
Sunday Feb 16, 2025
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 310, “Courage to Lay Hold of Your Calling,” Kim discusses the calling the Lord had placed on Elisha. When Elijah was taken up to heaven, Elisha “picked up Elijah’s cloak,” which was symbolic of his laying hold of the Lord’s calling. What is your calling? Have you laid hold of it or are you trying to avoid the entire idea of it?
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 2:13-18 with 13 as the focal verse:
13 Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River.
WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:
Have you ever asked the Lord to clarify His call for your life? May today be the day.
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
19 So Elijah went and found Elisha son of Shaphat plowing a field. There were twelve teams of oxen in the field, and Elisha was plowing with the twelfth team. Elijah went over to him and threw his cloak across his shoulders and then walked away. 20 Elisha left the oxen standing there, ran after Elijah, and said to him, “First let me go and kiss my father and mother good-bye, and then I will go with you!” Elijah replied, “Go on back, but think about what I have done to you.” 21 So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople, and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant.(1 Kings 19:19-21)
12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Philippians 3:12)

Sunday Feb 09, 2025
Sunday Feb 09, 2025
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 309, “EOL (Expansion of Life) Care,” Kim discusses the difference between EOL (End of Life) for unbelievers versus EOL (Expansion of Life) in the life of followers of Christ. May this last story from the life of Elijah encourage you and, through you, encourage others.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 2:1-12 with 11-12 as the focal verses:
“As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven. Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father! My father! I see the chariots and charioteers of Israel!” And as they disappeared from sight, Elisha tore his clothes in distress.”

Ep. 308: Holy Boldness til Home
Sunday Feb 02, 2025
Sunday Feb 02, 2025
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 308, “Holy Boldness til Home,” Kim discusses the holy boldness the prophet Elijah displayed until the end of his earthly life. May we all speak God’s Word with boldness, today and all the days of our lives.
Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 1:1-18 with 3-4 as the focal verses:
3 But the angel of the Lord told Elijah, who was from Tishbe, “Go and confront the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is there no God in Israel? Why are you going to Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, to ask whether the king will recover? 4 Now, therefore, this is what the Lord says: You will never leave the bed you are lying on; you will surely die.’” So Elijah went to deliver the message.
WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:
Are you displaying holy boldness now? How will you display holy boldness until you are home?
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. 19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. 20 I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should. (Ephesians 6:18-20)

Ep. 307: Choose Your Allies Wisely
Sunday Jan 26, 2025
Sunday Jan 26, 2025
SHOW NOTES:
In Podcast Episode 307, “Choose Your Allies Wisely,” Kim discusses the dangers of making alliances without consulting with and blessing of the Lord. We saw this played out as King Jehoshaphat made peace with King Ahab, one of the most evil rulers of all time, and then had a business alliance with King Ahaziah, who followed in the wicked footsteps of Ahab and Jezebel. May we learn from King Jehoshaphat’s mistakes and only enter into alliances prayerfully and wisely.
Our focal passage for this episode is 1 Kings 22:41-53 and 2 Chronicles 20:31-37 with 2 Chronicles 20:37 as the focal verse:
37 Then Eliezer son of Dodavahu from Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat. He said, “Because you have allied yourself with King Ahaziah, the Lord will destroy your work.” So the ships met with disaster and never put out to sea.
WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:
Who are your current allies? How would the Lord assess each relationship?
Additional Resources and Scriptures:
33 Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)
1 For three years there was no war between Aram and Israel. 2 Then during the third year, King Jehoshaphat of Judah went to visit King Ahab of Israel. 3 During the visit, the king of Israel said to his officials, “Do you realize that the town of Ramoth-gilead belongs to us? And yet we’ve done nothing to recapture it from the king of Aram!” 4 Then he turned to Jehoshaphat and asked, “Will you join me in battle to recover Ramoth-gilead?” Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses.” (1 Kings 22:1-4)

May God honor this personalized scripture prayer in the life of each listener:
Dear Lord,
I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower each listener with inner strength through Your Spirit. May You make Your home in her(/his) heart as she trusts in You. May her roots grow down into Your love and keep her strong. And may she have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. May she experience Your love, though it is too great to understand fully. Then may she be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Now all glory to You, who is able, through Your mighty power at work within her, to accomplish infinitely more than she might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:16-20 Personalized Prayer)
